More Doors LLC was founded in 2019 by Larene Randle Wade who has extensive experience designing, opening, and successfully operating housing programs for individuals who are systems involved and for people following chemical dependency treatment.

Larene has been working in the housing field since 2016 when she started the Parent Mentor Program to provide non-traditional methods of supportive services to parents in crisis, and working with families involved in child protection services.

In 2019, she began offering housing support to parents experiencing long-term homelessness and in 2022, started the Lighthouse Way Emergency Shelter in Ramsey County for women with and without children with the goal of moving them towards permanent housing.
Eliminating Homelessness with Long-term Housing Stability

The Impact of
NOT HAVING
a Place to Live
Many of the 600,000 people who return from prison every year and the 7 million people released from jail face the same predicament: they do not have a place to live.

Securing housing is one of the greatest challenges for people who are released from prison and jail, especially in localities where safe and affordable housing are in short supply.

Many different types of landlords and even public housing agencies have restrictive admissions policies and because of this, it can contribute as to why a formerly incarcerated person is nearly 10 times more likely to experience homelessness than a member of the general public.

People of color are disproportionately harmed by the criminal legal system, so housing exclusions based on arrest or conviction history further the racial disparities inherent in this system. Meanwhile, studies show that people who have stable, affordable housing are more likely to find and keep a job and are less likely to be reincarcerated.

More Doors provides housing options to help people get back on their feet and have the potential to be something greater.
